My mum has an IPad Pro 12.9” with a USB C charging port.

She’s recently had problems with it accepting certain charging cables. I initially thought that it just didn’t like the cheap ones. I took round an Apple cable and charger and it worked overnight. Now it won’t charge at all and just flashes between charging and not charging.

Before I take it in for repair somewhere, is there anything else I could check?

Thanks

You've turned it off and on again ? wink

Sounds like the charging port has a loose connection. If it's coming apart to replace the port, might also consider a new battery if it's old ?

Just like Lightning ports, USB can get bits in there that stop it from working. Fluff, usually. A sharp wooden toothpick, carefully used, can often fix that.

Compressed air blast in the port. See if there is any thing stuck in there and will blow out.

Doesn’t help with this problem but when I visited Apple for a faulty ear speaker, all he did was roll blue tack over the speaker.
It turned out to be a fault but worth trying if you can’t hear anything.
