Microsoft Surface charging problem
Discussion
Posting on the offchance and in desperation to see if anyone here might know a solution as Google has brought up a blank.
My 2019 Surface Pro 7 was working fine until quite recently (and I suspect until after a Windows update) and now it won't charge properly.
If I plug in the charger when the computer is switched on, the charger indicator comes on for a second, then goes out. The computer will only charge if it's shut down. If I turn it on when its charging then it carries on charging normally.
The battery appears to be in good health, judging by a battery condition report I generated, and is otherwise working fine with no error messages.
I've tried resetting the battery limiter in Bios, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the charger and battery drivers, but still no joy.
Any other ideas (other than buying an iPad) most appreciated.

This might be completely irrelevant as my laptop is a Surface 4, but is the problem the silly magnetic connection between the charging cable and the computer? Sometimes mine doesn't charge at all, or comes and goes. However, then I found I could charge the Surface via the USB C port, using a charger from another laptop, so I just do that.
Mine charges nicely using usb C but you need a minimum of 2Amp@15v or min 30watts, so a proper charging block from Anker or similar.
