Having spent yesterday reinstalling Windows and getting everything back to working after getting to an unrecoverable boot loop, I found myself lamenting my lack of image.

I'm taking one as I type. It would have saved me tons of time and hassle.

Don't be like Baldy, take a system image. smile

No backups, we blue screen like real men hehe

I've always treated OS installs as disposable and keep my important stuff on other drives.

I do that but it's still a pain reinstalling all the drivers and apps etc.

I gave up on making images as they are obsolete and out of date within a very short time.

A new operating system install followed by updates and then login to Office 365 for Outlook, One Drive and One Note restores 90% of what I need and anything else enjoys the bonus of a clean install.

I absolutely would never restore a system image. It's pointless.
The operating system installs in 20 minutes.
UnigetUI scripts lay on my software (winget for lazies)
Config takes an hour
Data is all mirrored in the Cloud.

Cleaner, not slower and not really needing great technical knowledge.

A fresh install is like a ghost pooh.
