Is there a dead easy app out there?

Don't fancy doing the sign up for 1 months trial for free then cancel before they start charging

Thanks

Not legally. Artists don’t give their music away for free.

If you download all the apps, they offer trial periods, can get free streaming music for most of the year, if you don’t mind switching.

I found Spotify knocked the socks off the others (best curated playlists, best ‘discovery’, tons of podcasts) and just started paying for that however.

If you are willing to give up control of the exact track you want to play, Spotify has a ad supported free tier as does Amazon music if you have Prime. This is good enough if you want some background music for running etc and aren’t particularly fussed about whats playing.

You could try the free version of Spotify. Apart from the occasional ad it works fine.

Do you want to down load it, or stream it?
Out here on the edges of 4G, streaming is often 'not very good'.

10 years ago, it seemed a lot easier to just copy a load of MP3 to your phone and just play it.

I don’t understand. You can still copy mp3s onto your phone and play them. What makes it harder now?

From a complete novice perspective could you talk me through doing this?

If you have bought some music from Amazon then you don't need Prime. Just play your record and it will select additional similar music to play alongside. You can't play your own album end to end without Prime, and there are ads.

There's also internet radio, e.g. Rayo.

Then all you have to do is:
1. Connect your Android phone to your computer using a USB cable.
2. On your Android phone, you’ll receive a notification asking if you want to charge the device or transfer files. Select “File Transfer” (MTP mode).
3. Your computer will recognize the phone, and you’ll be able to access the internal storage or the SD card (if you have one).
4. Open the music folder on your computer, and drag and drop the music files into your phone’s Music folder (or any other folder you prefer).
5. Once the transfer is complete, disconnect your phone

You may have to load an app such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.... on to your phone
