I have what was a expensive Nikon scanner (now old) I’ve not used it for years and when I last tried I’d lost the software installation disk, low and behold I found it in some junk in the garage so yippee i can use it again. No.
1st problem was, its on a CD, so I dig out an old laptop with a cd drive and install it.
Only to find it’s basically the drivers and you need photoshop for it to run.
Now I purchased Photoshop many years ago and luckily for me I have the original disc and serial number.
2nd problem, I get an error on install that says I need windows 4 or higher for it to work. I’m guessing it doesn’t recognise windows 11.

Is it time to chuck it all in the bin?

Try Vuescan.

It's let me continue to use my old Canon scanner even though neither they nor MS provide 64-bit Windows drivers for it.
