Cleaning up a laptop

My HP laptopn seems to be running like a glacier

Is there a way to clean out ll the junk so it runs faster?and can i retain a program that has been on there for sometime and no instaalation disc for it!
I have not got a back up installation disc

If depends how old the laptop is and how much money you have.
Upgrading to an SSD drive will speed thing up (cheap), likewise a bit more memory helps (not so cheap). I did all of that rather than buy a new laptop (expensive) and it helped a lot, but Windows does like a lot of elbow room.
As I just use my computer for simple stuff (office, browsing, photography and music) I eventually took the plunge and went Linux (free), although I accept that's not for everyone.

Try the free version of Ccleaner or a similar cleanup tool.
But take a full system backup first.

What is the program? Have you searched online for a source?
