Uses for spare 18650 Li-ion batteries?
Discussion
I have (safely) disassembled an ebike battery that was failing to charge so now have 36 LG li-ion batteries with a healthy voltage (3.64v) and 4 with 0v which will be going to recycle.
Anyone got ideas for projects to use them in, or can they be sold without incurring the wrath of health & safety people?

can't you buy 4 new cells from ebay and put the ebike battery back together?
No, the pack was destructively disassembled, I had to pull off all the spot welds, and I wouldn't trust the safety of different cells.egomeister said:
Buy cases to turn them into powerbanks

Do you have a use for any high power battery items like chainsaw, mower, ....?
I quite fancy an electric outboard.
The 4 0V cells might be saved.
But you need to be careful.
I had Li Ion drill at zero volts, which I managed to slowly recharge and has been fine for a couple of years now.
Cell are only half the equation, the 'BMS' battery management system is key, and if your has allowed cells to get to zero, it might be in need of upgrade.

I would have isolated the 0v cells from the pack and kicked them back into life (youtube will tell you how to do this). It has worked for me on at least 8 18650 cells so far. Then read up on battery pack management and reassemble, bit late for that though, as you have turned it into landfill already.I quite fancy an electric outboard.
