Hi,
I have an iPhone 13 and live in an area where broadband coverage is sketchy.
Depending on where I am in the house I have to switch WiFi off to get a decent signal.
Is there anyway, when there is a recognised WiFi connection available, that a phone can switch to a 5G connection if it represents a better signal? Seems obvious to me but isn’t something that happens.

Is it your broadband or your wifi that is poor? Two different things.I have an iPhone 13 and live in an area where broadband coverage is sketchy.

Settings -> Mobile Service, at the bottom is a Wi-Fi Assist options. That will prefer 4G/5G if wifi is poor.
Also from Mobile Service go into the SIM settings, there's Data Mode there which will give you an option to "Allow More Data on 5G" which switches off WiFi when 5G is better. Also Voice & Data has a "5G On" which forces it to use 5G if available.
Worth a try anyway

I guess, but manifesting in the same. Without copping out it’s likely a bit of both. Poor broadband and a relatively large house.
First things first. You need to speed test your home broadband connection, whilst preferably connected via ethernet to your router. If that is totally fine and show decent speeds, then you need to, as the other post above alludes to, enhance your wifi coverage around the house usually with one of these systems:https://www.bestproductsreviews.co.uk/wifi%20mesh%...
Finally... Yes, there is an option on your phone to automatically switch to 4G/5G for data if it detects the wifi is a slow speed.
It is called Wi-Fi Assist under the Mobile Service menu in your iPhone, although you will probably find it is already turned on by default.
Edit.... beat me to it while I was too slow typing!
