Wireless CarPlay Adaptor
Discussion
My wife’s Mercedes GLB has wired carplay but I have seen a number of adaptors of Amazon to make it wireless which would be much more convenient, especially for short journeys. The adaptors seem to range in price from £30 up to £60, my question is are they all the same or is there a recognised brand that is much better than the rest?
I bought one of these earlier this year for my Toyota Corolla, it's been 99% reliable. The only issue I've had is that very very occasionally Audible plays through the phone speaker and not the car speakers - no idea if that's the adapter or something CarPlay related, but turning the car off and on again always fixes it.

I bought one of these about a month ago to replace my CPlay2Air (which was having intermittent dropouts while listening to music) and it’s been brilliant with no problems encountered so far:

I didn’t get mine from eBay though, which I’m annoyed about because it was twice the price of the eBay listing

I bought one of these for a 2018 Skoda:

I'd say it works 90% of the time (very well, I add when it does), however the other 10% it will crash the cars infotainment, causing a reset. It normally starts working again fine (after it reboots itself), but when it crashes, things like parking sensors freeze (despite the display showing them as on) which has nearly caught me out.
About once every two months it causes a significant infotainment crash, so significant, the telematics unit thinks it's not working anymore, an amber light appears on the dash, normally followed by a phone call from the local dealer "Hello, we see your car has an amber warning light, please call us to book it in" The light doesn't go out until its reset by a scantool (VCDS in my case)
If I didn't have access to the scantool it would be a very expensive thing to use and would be in the bin by now. Not sure if it would do the same to a Mercedes.
The only reason is convenience really as I use it in conjunction with a magsafe charger so just put my phone on the charger and drive off, however, by the time it takes to boot up and connect, I don't think you save any time versus plugging it in!
EDIT: It also has some bugs, for example if someone calls me, it can get stuck in thinking its still on a call after hanging up, meaning music etc stops. The way to fix it is to call myself and hang up, which tricks it back into the normal mode. It can also crash on a call and the audio sounds like a Commodore 64 loading, no way to recover that other than to unplug it. In fact writing all this down I think I may just bin it
I've never tried any others so can't compare, when I bought this one, it had some favourable reviews for my car, not sure I'd recommend it personally based on my experience.
