Mac OS keeps logging out of outlook

this has been going on for a few months now, my outlook mail account keeps getting logged out of apples mail app and I have to enter the password again but it doesnt recognise the password (mostly, occasionally it does). I have to go to Outlook itself to get mail. Not the end of the world but mildly annoying.

Does anyone know of a solution?

Try removing all record of Outlook from the keychain, clearing the preferences and cache for Outlook, remove the user account within Outlook.

Restart.

Reinstate user account within Outlook.

Login.

Sync.

Mine has also been doing the same for the last few months.

Some days it's fine, others, it says password required, and even putting in the correct password doesn't work.

I've previously removed my Outlook settings, and recreated the account in the mail app, but this didn't fix it.

I've experienced the same issue both on my Mac Pro, and also Macbook Pro.

The stored Outlook credentials are obviously correct, as on most days it simply works.

I've found that in the mail app, taking all accounts offline, then taking them all online again occasionally fixes it, but most of the time it doesn't. Then the next day, or several hours later, it just works again.

It's not a solution, but at those times when it's not working, I'll instead check my mail on my iPhone, or alternatively use the web interface to Outlook.

I have the same issue with mine, Hotmail and Outlook accounts. Gmail and others are fine.

Glad i saw this as I was setting up a new printer for my next door neighbour who uses an old macbook and that refused to let him log in to his Sky-Yahoo mail, despite yahoo emaling him (as seen on his phone and in a web browser) that he had logged on to a new device... I assumed it was an issue with his Sky account, looks like it may be down to MacOS mail.

edit - watching so if solved here I will know what to try to do on his laptop.

That could be down tp the age of the Mac OS, what OS version is he on?

Honestly not sure - it is an old one he was given by his wife (she now just uses a phone and ipad). Neither are technical, but it had previously worked.

mine seems to have sorted (for now), I deleted the outlook account from apple mail and re enter4d it but through the MS exchange option, all good now.
