I bought a GoPro Hero 10 Black in December 2021 ahead of a snowboarding trip. It's not had a great deal of use - a few days on the slopes and a couple of days messing around in the pool/sea on holiday. I'd say it's been used on probably a dozen or so occasions.

A couple of weeks ago in Greece my son took it with him when he went snorkelling. After a couple of minutes it died. It transpires that it had allowed water in despite it apparently being waterproof ??. I've dried it out and tried to get it working but it seems totally dead. I tried charging it but could feel it getting hot after a couple of minutes so unplugged it.

I have to say I'm hugely disappointed. It wasn't a cheap bit of kit and as a premium brand I expected more.

I've spoken to GoPro who told me I can renew my subscription (which I cancelled as I didn't use it) for £50 and then pay them another £145 and I can have a new Hero 10. OK. So I paid almost £400 for a camera that I've probably captured 2 hours worth of content on and it's now dead and they want me to pay half as much again for a new one. Okaaaayy!

Anyone experienced similar? Any suggestions for how I can get it working or an alternative brand as I won't be going near GoPro again

Happened to me with an 8.

Used it twice in the pool on holiday and it died. Will never buy another go pro product again. Warranty doesnt allow for water damage on a product they market as waterproof.

There is unofficial repair sites where you send it away and they replace the insides but i haven’t tried it yet.

If i decide to get an acrion camera again itll be the latest dji Osmo action or the insta360 action cam

I neally had a similar issue with my GPH 5 and that i used it in the sea and didn’t was it off after under a tap.

The salt built up and crystallised around the hatches.
