Google home and Sony TV

A week ago, my TV worked very well, then I foolishly decided to go away for a week.
I come back to find Google home now fails to recognise my TV - no biggie as it just seems to break the voice control and ambient screen savers.
None of the online guides help - they either don't work, or are obsolete.
The only option seems to be to reset the account and set up my tv from scratch - f
k that for a lark. Also, why does location services need to be turned on - scope creep and data scraping.
Why is modern IT so st? Move fast and break things indeed.

My Google Home has a love/hate relationship with my Sony TV. For months the TV stopped responding to voice commands (switch on/off is pretty much all I use) and then one day it just worked. No update or reboot and the mesh access point is only about 3 metres away in clear sight. Been working fine for the last couple of years now but one day I'm sure it'll just stop
