I have a little home-built server I keep for stuff like Plex Media and shared storage for our various computers etc. in the home. It doesn't have any sort of remote console like something like a HP would have via iLO. I don't really need all the features of that and for the most part I can just ssh to it, but it would be handy to be able to have remote console/keyboard/mouse sometimes, rather than having to pull the thing out and set it up on my desk.

I may just be Googling for the wrong thing but surely there's a device I can buy which attaches to the USB and video output on the server then connect to my network and use to remotely control the machine?

This - https://pikvm.org/ or this - https://www.blicube.com/blikvm-products/ . I have the PCI-E version of the bliKVM, so it goes inside the case and uses a PCI-E slot, and it works well - it can power on/off the computer with the extra cabling into the motherboard and has a small LCD screen you can mount outside the case for info (such as IP etc).
