I’ve got discs through the house, works great, good connections.
However, BT hasn’t updated the app for about 3 years and recently it’s been saying it can’t find any discs even though they are all on and working fine. The discs can be seen through the webpage access but some settings can only be changed on the app.

Is there an alternative to the BT Wholehome App that can be used instead? I’m going to assume that BT isn’t supporting the app anymore, which is a shame as the discs work great otherwise.

Any mesh WiFi system can be used in place. E.g ubiquity, netgear obri, TP link deco, Eero

You need to switch your homehub over to router only mode and turn off WiFi or if your not using BT digital voice get a router/hub to suit the type of broadband you have.

VDSL needs a VDSL router/modem, full fibre any router is fine.

Maybe I didn’t explain it too well. I have a Plusnet Fibre Hub but I use BT discs to extend the range (previously used with Virgin Fibre). The discs and wifi work great but they are controlled via the BT Wholehome app which hasn’t been updated for a few years and has started being flaky and not seeing any discs even though I’m connected to the wifi on my phone. I’m hoping there’s an alternative 3rd party app out there that will see the discs and allow me to set up access, etc.

The discs and control plane are proprietary to BT unfortunately.

Ahh, that’s a bit of a bummer then if the apps gone to pot. I’ve got six of the discs that I now can’t change any settings on.

What settings? When I had a couple of those discs once they were set up then that was it and nothing more to do.

However given that BT still say the app is available, are you sure it is just not your phone is out of date?

We had some settings to cut the PS5 from wifi at kids bedtime as he was pushing his luck when I was working late but now it’s summer holidays we were easing back. Tried 3 different phones so I think something probably changed with the last iOS update but since BT aren’t updating the app then it’s playing up now.
Only option seems to be a factory reset and set them up fresh again through the admin webpage.

I’d factory reset the discs and set them up again. A pain if you have six, lots of walking !
