Hello,

I have full fibre internet with Vodafone in partnership with CityFibre.

I have a Tenda MW6 mesh system that I want to use. No matter what I do I cannot get it to work without the Vodafone router.

My ISP have given me my PPPoE username and password but I still get an "internet connection failed" message.

In my house I have the powered ONT.

The base set-up connects the ONT into the "PowerHub" router. I can disable the WiFi on this and connect up the Mesh to a lan port from the router. But it feels like an unnecessary box/plug used.

Surely I SHOULD be able to connect the WiFi mesh directly to the ONT?

Any hints or tips?

Did you set up the MW6 as an access point? IIRC needs to be done on initial setup using the mobile app, by connecting to the standalone Tenda wifi network then changing the settings to "bridge".

Here's a link which I think explains it https://www.tendacn.com/faq/3123.html

This might be a bad idea. Does the Tenda MW6 have a proper firewall for example ?

Personally I think it's a good idea to separate Internet access and your internal WiFi setup if possible, for one thing it makes debugging problems a lot easier, so in your situation I'd continue to use the supplied router, disable the embedded WiFi and use your mesh.

You want to use the Tenda as the router also, or the Tenda just to provide WIFI?

Are you sure they've given you working credentials? I've had several ISPs in the past where they've given me wrong credentials for a router/modem. Check what's configured in the working box you have.

You might need to set VLAN tagging. It seems like this should be set to 911.
If you can see the config on the supplied router it should be in there.

Thanks all.

I can't see the configuration or inputs on the supplied router. I tried saving the config file as a backup and opening with notepad but it's encrypted/gibberish/wingdings.

I will continue using the supplied router with the WiFi disabled hooked up to the mesh.
