Weirdest thing, the other half has a Samsung A33. If she watches YouTube or any media she can hear it through the speakers.
When she makes a call using the phone app the person on the other end can hear her, but she cannot hear them.
If she makes a call via WhatsApp she can hear the other person no problem.

So its something to do with the phone call app itself, tried scouring the settings but cannot find anything that sorts it out. Tried switching it off and on again nothing. It just started doing it yesterday, randomly, for no reason.

Completely at a loss.

Does it come back if you do a restart rather that power off and back on. I think power off is more of a suspend/hibernate. I had a similar issue on my s21 when an update stopped the restart as needed option. I couldn't hear in calls until a restart. They've now re introduced the maintenance reboots and I think the software is also fixed on mine.

A post here on reddit also covered it or similar has a suggestion o turning in call advanced features off.

Weird development, just out of interest tried calling it from a landline, and we could hear each other - so its just mobile to mobile.

Uninstalling and reinstalling is often a fix for misbehaving apps I find

Yeah I have suggested that but she is a technophobe and doesn't trust backing it up and reinstalling it.

Glad it sounds like you're working g again. Mine too ultimately sorted itself out but a restart would fix things fir a few days.
This what I meant from a maintenance reboot. I couldn't remember the option. Search settings for restart and chose "restart when needed" from the options as pic below. This option had been removed but was re-added with a later update

Vodafone? I had this on Thursday too, others could call me I couldn’t hear them. All sorted by Saturday. iPhone 15, but exactly the same issue, I guessed it was network related.

Yes it was vodafone! She even went into a vodafone store and they tried to sell her a new phone rather than fix it.

Thanks everyone for the help above, as always appreciate the time you put in.
