Hi all just wondered what would be the cheapest and easiest way to get YouTube on a non smart tv?

I think the tv is 1080p so no 4K is needed.

Would be handy if the remote could operate a Samsung tv too as I’ve lost the original one.

Thanks all.

Chromecast and streaming from a phone will be cheap and easy.

If you need a remote then a Chromecast with Google TV is a more standalone option without needing a separate device to cast from

Thanks but I’d rather avoid casting from a phone. Isn’t there anything which will turn a non smart tv to a smart one?

Chromecast? smile

(AIUI even on the old models, the phone is only used to tell the device what to play. Media is typically streamed directly to the Chromecast)

Has to be the answer I would have thought.

Amazon prime day next week so there will be some special offers on these and they support pretty much every app going inc YT.

Thanks guys will wait to see what they are priced at then.

Out of interest, if I do want to ‘cast’ from my iPhone, will it do that too? Does a chromecast work with iPhones better? They’re both the exact same price.

We hooked up an Xbox One to our old 'smart' TV. This gives you all the usual Smart TV options (iPlayer, C4, Netflix, Youtube, NowTV) plus a DVD player, even if you don't want to play games.

Plenty for sale on eBay.
