Latest headache
I am running Workstation Pro 17.5 on Windows 11 Pro.
As per a previous thread; I am running an Oracle database, Oracle Application Server and two (happy to go back to one only) Windows XP 32bit as VMs.

The WinXP is used as a development environment and has Oracle tools installed that I can no longer acquire but still find necessary/useful.
A good deal of work has been done using this VM across a number of host systems so upgrading is a poor option (just to get that out of the way).

The issue is, while the current original XP works fine with the Database VM, I would like to configure a network to connect an XP VM to the internet from time to time. This could be the existing XP VM, currently a Bridged connection, or a new XP VM. Ideally all would be able to run / coexist at the same time but this is not an absolute requirement. It's possible to suspend an XP VM without harm though Oracle VMs cannot safely be suspended.

I have tried using NAT on the 'new' XP VM to no effect. The new XP VM is a copy of the first, computer name changed and new IP assigned to avoid network conflicts.
The documentation says, more or less, quite simply use NAT. Still no internet connectivity.
Any pointers or detailed requirements documents / tutorials greatly appreciated...
I am obviously missing something quite simple but the VMware docs seem pretty short on detail.

Are you using a static address with NAT? is this in the range configured within the virtual network editor and has the gateway been set correctly? it supports DHCP so may be easier to use that.
Another option is to use bridged and have it share your NIC to connect to your network and pick and address up from your Router/Firewall/DHCP server.

Damn, that was easy.
Already on VMware NAT setting.
Network Card settings;
Selected Obtain IP address automatically.
Selected Obtain DNS server address automatically.

Immediately connected.
I knew it would be simple and I was being stupid.

Thanks thumbup
