I have FTTP via CityFibre and for the last 2 years I have been using Vodafone. The service has bee very reliable but Vodafone have put the prices up yet again.

I am out of contract and have the option of switching t TOOB which is half the price for higher speed (500 Mbs -> 900Mbs not that the extra throughput is needed).

Are TOOB Reliable?

Am I right to assume that as it is still CityFibre's network the reliability should be the same?

Yeh the reliability will be the same as your using the same network. You will get sent a new router however.

I wanted to switch from Vodafone (Cityfibre) but none of the others offered the phone line still, we live in a signal black spot so still use a phone line.

There was a decent thread here, which might cover a lot of your questions. It is also worth knowing that toob have their own network as well as utilising CF it all depends on where you live

We swapped to Toob Sept last year. It’s been very good on the whole. A couple of minor outages, plus some pre warned overnight works. Ours is a Toob network I believe. We chose not to have a landline. The standard Linksys router they supply is very good btw.

My neighbour had Toob, no problems at all.
I recall £29 for 900mbps
plus an Amazon voucher..
The no in contract rises appeals to me.
I’m switching as soon as my Virgin BB contract expires in a few months.
Overhead fibre here, arrived this year.

Live near a city centre and Toob still not available, they planned and delivered poles to provide fibre to our street and then cancelled so stuck with virgin

I switched to Toob at my last house - was very happy with them. There was a network problem at some point, which took them longer to fix than they'd estimated (i.e 24 hours, not 4 hours) - and they credited £10 to the bill as an apology!

Toob will be arriving to our current area "soon" and we will be switching to it as soon as we can.

Can you not use wifi calling on your phone?

I live in a signal blackspot too - completely dead. However, I gave up my landline about 4 years ago and use wifi calling, which works perfectly.

Keep an eye out for Amazon voucher codes too... the current one is £75 if you use 'hello75' before the end of the month

I'm considering moving to toob. Had a followup call from them today after going on their website. I was wondering if anyone has looked to see how often their ip changes if not fixed? Thanks

Sorry I don’t know regarding the fixed IP

I switched to Toob on 2nd January, very pleased.
Only slight issue, the Linksys Velop wifi wasn’t great at the back of my house. I bought one of the numerous ‘Community Fibre’ badged ones from Ebay for £35. Paired easily as a child node & works a treat!

I have been with TOOB since July and been happy with the service - just as reliable as Vodafone and half the price.

Just boosting this one. Toob came round to our cul-de-sac a few months back and said they needed to dig up the road stating blockages in the ducts. Thankfully my neigbhour is more astute than I and organised a separate CCTV inspection (which cost £480 to which I contributed so save our road) the result of which proved their was no blockage. So, we're not off to the best start, but Toob is now ready if we want it. I'm paying £38.50 + and additional £7.50 for a signal boost with Sky and getting 61mbps. Toob's £25 (for 18 months) + 900mbps is tempting. Is it noticeably better and as per this thread, still a good service? Thanks.
