This is a bit bizzare. Have various Google speakers around the house. One is an LG ThinQ Wk7 which I think is quite excellent.
Everything has been fine but I asked it to set an alarm yesterday and it replied with "Sorry I don't understand" I as ked it several other times and received same response.
All other speakers which consist of the Google Nest and some Sonys are all fine. Just the LG
I can't find anything on google and I have done the obvious switch off and back on and Factory reset set up as new speaker but it's still the same.
The only thing that has changed is I added a Humax Aura Freeview box yesterday and set the Google account up on that

Never trusted alarms on Google Home stuff and the third party devices seems to be more flaky.

I've always used routines to wake me up. Switch on the lights and play the radio at a specific time. It's an alarm by another name but it's never let me down in the last few years

I swear to God, Google Assistant on Google Home devices is the biggest piece of inconsistent st I have ever spent money on.

We have accumulated a number of devices, mostly minis, plus some displays over the years and functionality is flaky at best. Half the time we get the same as you with it not understanding. Broadcast (which we bought them for predominantly) works so inconsistently that i want to yeet them at something hard. Intermittently they'll drop into an american accent and decide to translate a broadcast into what it thinks it's heard, as opposed to just repeating my voice, which is what it used to do. The amount of times that alarms don't work is maddening.

I reckon that as there's no revenue generated from them, Google support deliberately stop fixing it when it breaks as a few years ago it all seemed to work.

I'm getting nowhere with it.
It may effect other commands but the other stuff I ask is fine. It's just on this one speaker the others are fine.
I'm going to dig out another one I bought cheap without a power supply and see how that one works
