Commented on a sponsored political party post on FB.

Instantly got a text to my iphone inviting me to the party by chat GPT, I didn't read the small print 'if you reply you will automatically be added to join the group'

I foolishly did and told them to FRO , I was then redirected to the Party and apparently 'joined the group' and had agreed to receive further promotional and news from them!

WTAF?

How did they have my number.

This felt like entrapment.

Yes I know, just didn't expect to automatically join the party.

I had to actively unsubscribe or I would be spammed daily.

By small print I assume OP actually means he just didn't read the text, given all the print in a text message is the same size.

If your actions prompt you to receive a message saying 'Reply to do x' and you reply, nobody is breaching any regulations.
