Low-cost, no subscription, battery home cameras
Discussion
Hello all,
We have had Blink cameras for a long time. Gen 1, free subscription, work okay.
We also got a set of 3 for MIL home (at her request), for the last years of her life. As an aside - highly recommended to help the elderly remain at home - it gave us the info of who was visiting (carers, mostly!), plus one in the hall told us if she was up or downstairs (pointed at chairlift). It also allowed us to race over there when she fell....a 40 minute drive done in under 30, with the ambulance on the way too!
Now sadly gone, we want to relocate her cameras to a holiday home we have.
Having followed their instructions (multiple times!), it is refusing to accept my password for the wifi, which is 100% right, so there is something else at play here:
I've raised a case...but don't hold my breath, given it is pretty old!
A shame....but makes me wonder what low-cost alternative we could look at.
Cameras would need to be battery powered (with mains option for one or two), indoor & outdoor, and we would need remote access.
Outside of that: something cheap!
It will only be a vague assistant to help us keep a weather eye on the place (we have managed for many years without, so not urgent!). Ability for 2-way speaking a bonus.
Eufy looks a possibility. Looks like they "only" have a 6 month battery life (our Blink usually went about a year), but at around £210 for 3 cameras, it might be an option.
I think Blink now offer your own storage thing to avoid subscription, but we would need to buy all new. A Black Friday (July equivalent) option.
Anyone with ideas, or indeed comments on the Eufy or newer Blink?
