Today I noticed a new icon in my Win 11 taskbar. It is Co-pilot, something to do with AI that I don't want but MS decided I was going to have.

So I had a little google on how to remove it, via 'Installed Apps', and it apparently uninstalled. Except the icon is still in the taskbar and if I click it, it opens Co-Pilot.

Returning to 'Installed Apps', there is no longer an entry for Co-Pilot.

It seems to be smarter than me.

Ah that did it, thanks.

I can't do the disabling in the other link as it's not a Pro version, so I guess it's still doing its nefarious work out of sight...

As an aside, what will AI do for me as a retired home PC user, apart from make up montages of cats in gingham trousers on mountains?

I'm using Copilot all the time for all sorts of questions. The answers are nearly always good for me and basically Copilot saves me Googling and then skim reading a selection of responses to get the information I need. A bonus is that Copilot reads the results back to me which keeps me company. Double bonus is that it annoys Ms Actual.

Another good thing is that Copilot is conversational which means that you can ask a question and then ask follow-up questions which are answered in the original context.

I play Xbox and PlayStation RPG type games but I don't have 100's of hours to solve the game so before I would Google to find out what to do but now I use Copilot and I don't have to take my eyes off the screen as I follow instructions.

I suggest try Copilot.

Would you say it's 'Google Digest'? - ie it reads 100 pages of Google hits then gives you the answer it likes most or thinks you like best?
