Correct credentials needed - gmail
Discussion
Hi all,
Wife has a Samsung/Android smartphone. She used to be an iphone user and was for many years, obviously having an icloud email address.
When she switched to Samsung and Android we set up an icloud email account, as we decided she didn't want to lose her iCloud email address which she'd had for very many years.
It was a right faff to do but we managed it, and it's worked fine now for some months.
Out of the blue her emails will now not download and the gmail app shows the message "Correct credentials needed - Enter credentials for ****@icloud.com.
We go to do that and we get a Sync Options dialogue box come up, asking for username, password, server, port and security type. All already filled, and all correct (though the password is not shown) as far we are aware.
However we're told username or password is incorrect. We don't think they are.
Any advice guys? It's frustrating that this has just popped up out of the blue.
TIA.

Thanks, we have done that. It seems to be sync or server settings that we're being asked for, and it seems to be a sync issue. She can get her gmails, it's the icloud emails she can't - which means all her emails as she's never used or given out her gmail identity.
I realise the easiest option long term might be to drop the icloud identity altogether, but it's been working fine for 6 months so why not now?

Could be this? She can get her gmails, it's the icloud emails she can't - which means all her emails as she's never used or given out her gmail identity.

Might be worth us hanging on a bit and see what happens, alternatively I've suggested it's time to give up the iCloud email address.
