Frustrating!

If I’m in the car (this is where I first noticed the issue) and with CarPlay say, for example, “Play Frank Zappa” or “Play Guitar by Frank Zappa” Siri will confirm my request, but then play Birdland by Antonio Forcione.

It’s never correct, even though Siri’s voice response is correct.

Obviously I’ve turned the phone off and on again. It does it with just the phone too, although I have the Siri voice response turned off.

Googling the issue confirms others have had the same issue over the years, but there doesn’t seem to be a fix for it.

For the previous two years I’ve been using this feature, no issues at all, always spot on.

If I search manually, either on the phone or on the car’s screen, the correct selection plays.

Help!

CarPlay in the car isn’t always accurate unfortunately, I’ve had things played that were nothing to do with what I asked for - even though the song was in my library.

Rephrasing what I wanted sometimes works, but you shouldn’t have to do it.

Hopefully the rumoured AI Siri improvements later this year will help.

It understands exactly what I say, and it repeats it to me. Then plays something else.

It also gets it wrong when I say it into the phone, nothing to do with the car.

That’s a strange one, but CarPlay does have loads of bugs.

I regularly have the random one where the Siri voice cuts off halfway through speaking. Other owners have it too, but there is no fix.

It’s so bad that it was even put an entry in your diary for ‘what did you say’ as it records its own voice as yours!

What happens of you ask Siri to play Birdland by Antonio Forcione?

Because Siri is a 'tard.

It / he / she doesn't do the correct thing 50% of the time.

Amusingly it has now been programmed to become huffy if you swear when it messes up. "I won't respond to that".

I’ve never had an issue with Siri before this.

You need to see an AI Relationship Counsellor.
Sometimes Siri likes different music to you.
It's not all about you, have some consideration.

Perhaps I’ll try asking it to play random music, see if there are any hints, hidden meanings etc.

Some months ago, Siri and YouTube music had a spat and Siri kept saying “sorry you’ll need to continue in YouTube music”’. Apple Music was unaffected, so YTM resolved the issue quick sharp.

I was using a Beta iOS.

Reverted to the proper iOS, and all is well. Phew.
