Basic colour Inkjet with ethernet
Discussion
Need one to put in my workshop so I can print orders and shipping labels for an employee whilst I'm away. I usually print them on a laser in my office.
I know they are two a penny but anyone have any particular recommnendations for one. Absolutes are:
- needs to be robust - it'll be in a workshop that will likely drop to single digit temps in Nov-Jan. Hence' I've ruled out laser - unless I'm 100% getting this the wrong way round? Cost isn't an issue - they are both cheap enough until you get through ink/toner and it'll likely get binned before it needs a refil!
- needs to absolutely be reliable in terms of sleeping and waking. I have a Brother laser and it wakes up without fail.
- needs to not be fussy about being cold.
- Not big - A3 defo not needed.
- Ethernet - it MUST have an ethernet port - USB or wifi wont' do.
- CAN be B&W - can't edit the title - no idea why I put colour in it!!
Bonus - totally not vital
- 2 trays (if I can fit say 40 x A6 in a (selectable) envelope/manual feed - that would be good enough for the "2nd tray"). Shipping labels btw. Doen't matter much - can print them on A4 and he can fold them!

I’m about to buy a laser printer after launching an HP inkjet printer into the skip out of shear frustration; which model of Brother are people going for?
I have the MFC-3750CDW but that's got a scanner on top which you might not want. What are your requirements?Colour/mono?
Multifunction/just printer?
Wireless printing?
Double sided printing?
You can use the filters on this page to narrow down the choice: just note that some come with 3000 page toners which makes them look a bit more expensive. Note that the running costs are based on using OEM toner & the point of going with Brother is that cheaper compatible toner cartrdiges are available.

Why not just move the laser printer for a week or two?
Inkjets are a PITA with no exceptions.
Inkjets, I hear you - I have no idea why I put that in the topic title, but, I can't remove it!!Inkjets are a PITA with no exceptions.
We are talking nearly 3 months, not a week or two - I don't want my vital colour laser with added paper trays going out into the cold and damp. I rely on it always working.
I've settled on this for the workshop. Not too big, proper paper casette soit reduces damp paper, and a brand I know well
Brother HL-L2370DN
Brother HL-1110 A4 Mono Laser Printer for anyone interested:
