External display MacBook pro
Discussion
Currently have a Intel MacBook 2019
This is (sometimes) connected to a Dell 24 inch HD (not 4k) screen
Doesn't seem to match well, and the display on the Dell is not that sharp. I assume as it's only HD, and it's a fairly basic model.
I want a better external display. One option is the Apple Studio Display, but it's 1700
Other option seems to be LG Ultrafine (5k)
I also plan to upgrade to latest MBP (14) later this year, so will ned a screen that can do it justice
I also have a Dell XPS 13 (for work), I assume both minters can accommodate that as well.
Any experiences or thoughts?

You don't have to spend a fortune, there are plenty of monitors out there that will be a decent upgrade on what you have and will have a range of connectors which will work with your current and future laptops.
This for example is £250 for a 27" 4k monitor, it has a USB C connection which will drive the display and also charge the Macbook or Dell XPS.

It will have a couple of USB out for your keyboard/mouse as well.
There are tons of monitors out there which offer a similar feature in a large range of sizes and formats. Going from 1080P to a 4K will be tons sharper.
Edit: If you want to spend a little bit more, this Dell monitor is good value for £430. https://www.scan.co.uk/products/32-dell-p3223qe-4k...

I have a BenQ 28 inch 4k, they’re fairly regularly under £400 on special offer.
It has a specific Mac mode to match the colours on a MacBook screen, and the monitor is factory calibrated.
Brightness isn’t super high, but fine for general use.
They seem to be popular with photographers due to the quality of the screen and colour accuracy.
