Hi All, I'm looking for a smallish tablet that I can do all my emails and other social admin/internet etc. But, I also want to be able to use it with a drawing stylus so I can do sketches and colour renderings, to a good level of detail. Rather put this out to the forum than go into PC World and be sold something that does not live up to my expectations. Any advice from experience would be much appreciated. TIA.

Have you looked at one of the Microsoft surface laptops?

I know Asus also do some high-end touch screen laptops that will handle rendering software as well.

Take some Vaseline with you. Ther aren't cheap.

Sorry for being that guy, but the iPad Mini can use the pen and is an absolutely superb bit of kit and will do everything you need. Pricey though - £569 starting price I think and the pen is an extra £79

I'd be that guy as well & suggest an iPad is the go-to device.

I have a Surface and would never get a pencil for it.
I have an iPad Air and have a pencil.

Windows is not a touch-first operating system.

I have had touch-capable Windows devices since 8 btw (Dell XPS, Samsung Slate, Surface Pro). I don't often touch my screen.

I use a Microsoft surface for exactly what the op wants, except it’s my daughter that does the arty stuff. She creates characters and backgrounds for computer games.

Given the right software i'm sure a Surface Pro would do the job.
I've not had one since Surface Pro 4 but that was a capable thing at the time.

Thanks for the comments so far - much appreciated. I'm not a great fan of Apple as I am Windows familiar for many years but it looks like I need to check out the i-pad to see if I can be bothered to learn a new operating system. Will also have a good look at Microsoft Surface as that sounds like a good fit for me regarding Windows familiarity.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex which is a flippable laptop - came with a stylus and is generally pretty decent. IMO best of both worlds being a fully fledged laptop as well as tablet just by folding the screen over

Surface Pro 9 here, and pen. Bloody great bit of kit. Only bought the pen out of idle curisity, as it sits in the keyboard and charges. Works great but I'm no artist! Currys was the best deal on the SP9 with keyboard.
