Hotmail and VPN plus new MacBook

So I got a new MacBook Pro a few weeks ago and everything moved across great and everything worked (including email etc)

Last few days hotmail has been really strange - it will not connect and the Mac asks me for the password - enter it but it will not recognise it either. I have logged into the hotmail via safari and updated the password. Still will not log in. BUT when I have the VPN connected all works well.

Never had this before - no idea what changed

Any suggestions???

Assume you're using Mac Mail? My hotmail accounts regularly need the password re-entering, don't know why. I've had similar issues to you, I just deleted the account and set it up again in Mail.

Could be something to do with 'Private Relay', it's on by default, stops the tracking of your public IP address.

Yes using Mac mail and have been for years - I have not changed any settings and will check the link you said (thanks for it)

Wondering why it would change on its own, not had a software update in the last week or so

Just checked - the limit IP tracking is turned off as suggested in the link

All working well with the vpn on - disconnected and hotmail lost connection and asked for password - entered the right password and would not work, turned the VPN back on and entered the password and all connected fine.

Try deleting the account and then setting it up again.

What account settings do you have? Are they set-up as 'exchange' accounts?
