I'm having problems connecting to my Virgin Media e-mail account this morning. Sometimes I can open it and other times it says "server inaccesible" or "sever not available". Anybody else in the same boat?

I'm in the Farnborough Hants area.

You can check for faults in your area on the virgin media web page.

I did.

It didn't show any - but all of my devices are having issues. It's intermittent. Sometimes it loads up, sometimes it doesn't.

And I always find it amusing when the advice you get when you have a connection problem with a website is to check that particular website on the internet.

It's like saying that, if your car won't start, why don't you drive it to the garage so they can look at it.

Managed to connect to the "Virgin Community" forum and it definitely looks like Virgin e-mail has serious problems today. In the modern age, especially regarding work, we cannot really afford to have these types of problems.

Last time this happened, Virgin informed me that email was free and they weren't that bothered if I needed it for work as it isn't a business service smile

That's rather cheeky of them.

Firstly, I would challenge them that it was free - everything needs to be paid for.

And even if it is free, as they have undertaken to provide you with the service, they are legally obliged to provide it to you.

And to pay you compensation if you are unduly affected by it.

I'm still waiting for them to migrate my @ntlworld.com email to a Virgin Media equivalent. Been about 20 years now smile
I have a mental image of their email servers and it doesn't look good.

I would strongly recommend moving your email away from Virgin Media. I'm a VM customer but never signed up for a VM email address as I'd much rather use a third party provider. I'm sure you've heard this many times before but my experience comes from previously having an ntlworld email address as a customer of ntl. If you move away from a Virgin Media area, or VM themselves fold then you will lose your email unless you know how to back them up. Gmail or Outlook.com are probably the most popular ones but there are plenty of other providers.

Ditto, get yourself another email address that is not tied to an ISP, Gmail, Hotmail/Outlook or similar. Then migrate across.

Personal preference to some degree but Gmail with 2FA ideally.
