Thinking of getting a Chromebook as my next 'laptop'.

Does anyone have one, if so, how do you find it?

I will also be keeping my current old laptop for software that is windows only and tasks that require heavier specs. Saying that, there are some impressive hardware Chromebooks now.

A few threads on here if you can find them on this, but I bought one a few years ago and like it a lot - I don't do much that I actually need a PC for (dual screen remote desktop is one of them though, but I can always plug my windows work laptop in for that).

Fast start up, shut down, working with some (not all) apps I have on my Android phone, portability, cheapness, easier updating all plus points for me.

High spec ones do seem to be quite close in price to a windows laptop though.

Be aware of the "expiry date" when no future updates - cheap deals are usually for ones with less life on them - how important that is I don't really know, but I have c 4 years to go on mine I think and you can check easily using the model number.

Mine are both Asus models (larger, but cheaper one my Dad uses), and use a more expensive one - I went for one with the flip touch screen so you can fold back on itself and use like a tablet, but it is too heavy and awkward for that and I have only used the function a few times - wouldn't go for it again. A proper tablet would be much better for that sort of portability.

I see it more as a baby laptop that I can take on holiday and worry less about breaking/getting pinched, and will do most things I would need a win laptop to do.

Work well if most of your stuff is web based, as said above check any models that your going to buy to see how long their support is.
