From OAP 80 years....just purchased new home computor....no DVD-RW in it most i see dont have now ??...will it reconise my Printer with CD to install through the USB port...or do i have to purchase a remote DVD - RW to run the install disc. please advise Peter

You could just try connecting it.

If it doesn’t work, you should be able to download the latest drivers from the web.

Likely that the software is available online, so when you plug printer in PC will recognise and install automatically or you'll be able to download the necessary software and install it yourself.

Amazing to think that years ago I was laboriously stuffing 16 or more floppy disks into the slot to load my software but now even the CD/DVD drive is obsolete. We don't have disk drive or CD/DVD/Blu-ray player in the house.

You can download the drivers for the printers from the internet, or it may come already installed. You only need a DVD drive if you have a lot of DVDs/CDs and you need to play them on your PC.

An external USB DVD drive is only about £20 anyway.

If you do have drivers on a cd, chances are they will be way out of date. The drivers were probably have been out of date when you bought it. Get the drivers online

Or post here the make and model of the printer and we can probably find you a safe link to the drivers.
