Small UPS for NAS
Discussion
I have a Synology DS920+, which apparently draws around 35W. I'd like to get a small UPS for it so if the power goes out it will hibernate safely, I don't need it to run for hours on the battery, so only need something pretty small, but it needs a USB connection to tell the NAS to hibernate.
The smaller ones I can find, like the APC BX500MI still seem like a massive overkill, capable of running 35W for around 45 minutes.
Does anyone know enough about UPS to be able advise what I need?

I did wonder about what else I could power from one,, but the only benefit of keeping the wifi up would be the Ring doorbell keeping working.

I bought a cheap Salicru 500VA for my Synology NAS in 2019 and it's still going strong. I get notification of the NAS being connected to the UPS when powering on.
500VA seems to be the minimum size I can find. The Salicru One 500VA looks to be similar spec to the APC, for €77 vs €86 for the APC. Neither are on Synology's compatibility though, is your set to hibernate the NAS when the UPS gets low or just to alert you to a power outage so you can shut it down safely?GuyW said:
I always go for keeping your network up at the same time. Means at least you've got some entertainment available if required when the power goes. Assuming you've got a laptop, tablet, phone etc.
The NAS is also running Home Assistant and acting as the Zigbee controller, so I have it in the middle of the house, 2 floors up from the router, although with a decent Zigbee mesh network it should work ok from the ground floor, and it would make sense to have everything in one place,. It might be a bit tight in the cupboard for both the NAS and the UPS though as I don't think I've got space for a second shelf.
