Apple Watch, SE or 8?
Discussion
I'm after a new Apple watch, just a GPS version, I don't need all the bells and whistles, mainly used when my phone is in my bag when out cycling and walking. Taking calls, messages and directions, notifications etc. I won't wear it all the time.
I was going to get an SE but see some good deals on series 8 watches for £50 more. Which one should I get?

It sounds as though all the features you’re looking for are available on the SE.
I was in a similar situation to you about a year ago, comparing with the 7 at the time. In the end I decided I’d be better off spending the extra money on the cellular version of the SE. This means I can go for a run, leave the bulky phone at home and if anyone needs to get hold of me they can. Also handy for listening to Spotify etc on the go.
Great bit of kit.

I’d pay the extra and get the 8 to be honest, it’s got more features you won’t use like the ecg feature.
Remember your watch will connect to WiFi networks when it’s not connected to your phone so you may not need a cellular package. At the gym I leave my phone in my locker and my watch connects to the gym WiFi so I still get texts and can stream radio stations and the like.

Finally decided to replace my aging S3 Nike and found a 45mm S9 (GPS and Cell) on cash converters, boxed and unopened for £300 delivered. It arrives tomorrow.
Definitely worth a look on there to see as the pricing is all over the place for them (totally non-standardised like you would probably expect)

HI.
Ive got an apple watch 8 cellular sitting in a box doing nothing. Tried it, but went back to Garmin.
Its used, but as new. Prob used for a max of 3 months in total max. Unused strap as I used a canvas one.
Comes with box
make me a fair offer and I'll happily sell, it's doing no good to me sat in a drawer....!

The 8 for not much more is definitely worth it - I originally bought an SE but managed to return it and exchange for an 8 when they were on special offer the day after I'd ordered the SE.
The always on display is very useful as you can glance at it without having to turn your wrist to wake up the screen.

Thanks for the replies, by chance JL are doing £50 off the series 9, so I have gone for one of those. Ok, it was £80 more than a series 8 but should be supported a bit longer and I could get the colour I wanted and the strap I wanted.
So rather than spending £249 on an SE I have spent £379 on a series 9.......
