Moving the older one over from his POS fire tablet to a Samsung Galaxy A9..

Google's family link seems like a good solution for controlling time and application limits.

HOWEVER, theres a big sting in the tail in that it won't let you log games into a Play Games user account!!! This is quite a large omission given the tablet is mainly for games. It means the save data will be stuck saved locally.

Samsung seems to have Samsung Kids.. However, I'm worried it'll lock me into a Amazon Fire type ecosystem.

TL:DR-
I'd like an android tablet my 10year old can log into with his own account, be able to save game data to his "Play Games" account, but also have the usual parental controls (ie time limits, and restrictions on Adult content etc).

I may have found a way around this.. But it means setting up two accounts.

Log in an "adult" account to the tablet.. Sign into the games. Then log out on the tablet, and sign in to that tablet with the child's "family linked" account.. The games seem to remain logged in.

The downside is the game save data is on a seperate account which, as the child grows, will mean migrating that data at some point or the child switching accounts (possibly the easier solution).

I'm also not sure if the games will become logged out at any point, not to mention any new games installed will require the faff of the account logging out and back in situation.
