Hi all

I don't game anymore but my little lad who games on his PS4 is keen on getting a gaming laptop or possibly a PC.

I'm keener to get a PC as it'll be cheaper or higher spec for same money plus is upgradeable.

I don't want to build my own, been there done that and not interested anymore albeit would be happy to upgrade etc.

He is keen on fortnite so what is the minimum spec for a decent machine to get a few years worth if use.

Can it be done for less than £600?

He'd be better getting a PS5 if all he wants to play is Fortnite.

Yes, if he wants PC type stuff and Xbox series x at under £500 has an equivalent spec to a £1,000+ gaming PC.

LTT Ps5 vs an equivalent value pc

Depends if they want to play with pc or ps5 friends and whether the games have cross play or not.

If OP is ok going second-hand they might be able to pick something up that is only a few years old, but gaming hardware seems to keep a premium even when used.

Fortnite isn't an especially demanding game. If you can stretch to nearer £800 then you can get something which will play it happily enough.

Thanks all. He plays Fortnite on his Ps4 already so I'll Need to establish why he wants a PC.

Appreciate the responses.

I must admit, I do quite fancy getting back in to whatever the latest Battlefield series is now.
