Do you need buds? Or could a better set of headphones solve some of the issues with lastability?

I've been looking at these as my wife has the headphones and for the money they are pretty decent.

Also can buy direct for the same price as Amazon but you get a 10% discount on their site.

My Earfun wireless ones have held up over the last 5yrs. I don't use them for 3hrs a day though. No where near that.

I’ve tried expensive Sonys and Samsungs in the past but they all fail eventually. I’ve now got some cheap Anker ones now and they are fine. If they break soon as the others do then ok - they cost about 20% of the price.

I’ve had some cheap as chips Anker bluetooth earbugs (joined by a single cable) for at least 5 years, possibly longer, and they’re greats!

I wonder how many charging cycles the batteries are rated for. At your usage profile, it isn't going to take long to burn through 500+ cycles.

I have an old set of these I use for running / riding the push bike so you can hear the world around you. Had them for 4/5 years and they just keep going, sound quality is pretty poor with little to no bass but they are good for pod casts.

Other than this I have Bose Sound Sports but they don't like getting wet and I've killed a couple of pairs while out in the rain. Bose warranty has always replaced them when they have failed.

Could you continue buying them from Currys or other shops? That would solve your Amazon returns problem.

I have some soundcore P3i and they are great. Nowhere near the constant use that you have but over 2 years old and they are like new.

That would be my suggestion. Just looked it up and bought Bose SoundSport In-Ear wired Headphones on 25 March 2019 and still going strong. They used to get used for two hours every day on my commute.

I also have Bose QuietComfort 25 wired sound cancelling over ear headphones. Apart from replacing the ear pads a few time they have been fine. They get used quite a few hours each day to mask a high pitch noise in my house, long story.

Meh, I never pay more than $30 for a pair. They will either break or get lost so just view them as consumables.

I bought the 1st gen air pod pros at launch five years ago and last year gave to my partner who uses them daily at work for multiple hours as I did for years before that.

They were left on the garden table for a couple of weeks through rainstorms.

Still going strong

The new ones can be remotely triggered to make noise so easy to find if lost.

I have spent more on disposables. On a per hour basis they make a lot of sense

I’ve found the Bose buds pretty robust. Had them for 18 months used 3 to 4 hours a day and still going strong.

I bought some AirPods Pro which didn’t seem to like being dropped, they developed an annoying whine.

I have been using Jabra ear buds since the start of lockdown while working from home, I use them every day usually for calls and conference calls etc for at least 2-3 hrs a day and still going strong. Battery life is still good

I recenty bought some Galaxy Buds FE from Currys and got the 3 year instant replacement for £10 extra. I would not normally buy warranties but I agree that reliability is an issue on these small complex devices. Already on my second set.

Much as it pains me to suggest an Apple product, anything that can survive my ham-fisted daughter is a decent product.

She's had a set of Apple pod things for years and they still work fine, so they're clearly pretty robust.

My Sony XM3's have lasted a few years. I replaced the batteries when the listening time deteriorated, easy enough following YT tutorials.
