I have an aging PC with a vega 64 graphics card running two 34" 3440 x 1440 monitors. In the past I used a virtual desk top on one for work and left the other one for home.

I have a new job and that came with a MacBook Pro. How do I get these two worlds to work in harmony? I thought I could get a KVM with thunderbolt and Displayport in with Displayport out. Does this exist?

Also, how do I connect the logitech MX2mouse? If it was USB I would stick it into the KVM. I could, and have, set the mouse up to connect to each computer by pressing the button. Not the end of the world. Could I use the USB dongle thingy. Are there any draw backs to doing this?

Embrace the future.

MacBook Pro will hurt for a little, but use it as a new ecosystem. Trying to bridge the two is like old Russian proverb

Chase two rabbits. Catch neither.

Yeah, that does make sense but I can't use the work Mac for home stuff so would have to replace the home PC with a Mac.

I will admit I am finding the MacOS a pain but it has only been 2 days so far. One thing that is very evident is the way MacOS handles windows just will not work on the 14" screen for the work I do.

Have you a home iPad ? Or cloud driven life ?

Run that as a separate monitor / unit to the Mac but with the keyboard / mouse etc

I do have an iPad so that’s an option. For now, I have used a dongle to connect one of my monitors to the Mac and just switch inputs.

I was hoping a more permanent solution like this

Thunderbolt 4 KVM Switch

Not sure if that will do everything I want. If it does, I can mount it under the desk and only have the switch on show.
