Xiaomi Mi Max 3 - no 4G data on Vodafone
Discussion
As thread title, I have a Xiaomi Mi Max 3 on a Vodafone pay monthly contract. No problems until late December 23, when suddenly it had intermittent signal, couldn't make phone calls, had no data connection, etc. Replaced the SIM as it was quite old, no difference. Did all the software upgrades as required, no difference. Spent hours on help chat with Vodafone, reset everything on the network settings side, it seems to work fine on 2G now - I can make phone calls, and it has incredibly slow data rates (~4kb/s), can access emails etc - but when I configure it to an LTE network it will occasionally find a 4G signal, and I can make a phone call, but it's like it has no data connection at all - 0.0kb/s. Vodafone reckon they can 'see' the phone on the 4G network, and say everything from their side is fine, no restrictions at all. Every once in a blue moon it finds a pocket of signal, like yesterday when I was able to download a whole hour of a radio programme in a few seconds.
So - could it be the handset? It wasn't dropped or damaged, it was just working fine then it wasn't. Can the GSM antenna burn out? It's only just over a year old. Works perfectly on WiFi, and on the rare occasions it does find functional 4G it downloads quickly (~1.5Mb/s), but at all other times it's showing 'E' as the connection type, or worse still has no signal at all.

Thanks, I updated everything shortly after it stopped working in late December, but it made no difference. I see there's a further update so I'll give that a go Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
