Running into terrible issues migrating whatsapp android to iphone (14)

There is a "move to IOS" software but it keeps running into problems and i have little hair left to pull out

I see there are a plethora of 3rd party software offerings to do this e.g. iToolab WatsGo.

Could someone speak to whether it is legit or not? Really appreciate it

Thanks a lot

It's should transfer automatically...

On the original phone go to:
Settings
Chats
Backup
Select videos etc
Press Backup

Wait to finish

On new phone install whatsapp

Then go to restore and import messages etc

It should but it doesn't. Followed all that to the letter until blue in the face. Gets hung during the transfer.

I've just been through this and ended up spending a whole afternoon tearing my hair out too.

It all seems to depend on how much you put through the move to iOS app.

What worked for me was, moving all my other 'stuff' via the move to iOS app excluding WhatsApp, backing up the phone via iCloud, then wiping it, transferring only WhatsApp chat and once done restoring the backup from iCloud and signing back into WhatsApp. Long winded but it worked. The only other bit to add was that the media from whatsapp did not transfer, only the text chats.

I followed this:

good luck!

I sympathise wholeheartedly - I went through the whole sorry mess last May when I transferred from Android for iOS. Googling brought up very little in the way of unbiased info, mostly sponsored “reviews” of dodgy 3rd party apps. I even posted on here with very little response as I remember…

I didn’t bother with the in house transfer software as I read that it is was limited.

In the end I used some software called Wondershare Dr.Fone. It seemed to work OK and I didn’t lose any messages or photos which was very important as I had loads from my late father. Only slight oddity is that in the group chats it seemed to have the wrong date of when I was added to them which is strange.

I hope never to have to go through the sorry experience again though, it’s absolutely stupid that it’s so difficult.
