An AI system has been announced by OpenAI called Sora. It's similar to DALL.E and other image generators, but it generates video from text prompts.

It's testing at the moment, not public. There are similar telltales to AI images on things like hands, but it's impressive. As said in the MKBHD video, a year ago this stuff was making the nightmare fuel stuff like Will Smith eating spaghetti. Whenever the generators like this go public, we'll have a bunch of threads on here of our own AI videos, moaning that the AI doesn't know what a certain car looks like and the driver has 7 fingers hehe .

It really is amazing isn't it. I wonder if it took a detailed film script (ai could make too!?) It could make a film.

I was experimenting recently, I had chatgpt write a rap about a rapping pope. I had bing make an artwork for the album and I found some random ai voice online sang the rap and one of the voices actually sounded almost believable. I mean to anyone who wasn't aware it was or could be ai they totally would have believed it.

I think folks out there just have no idea of the capability but once you start digging and tinkering you really can see how far it's come and how the vast majority have no idea.

I'm excited about it and got a few books on it. I mean there might be a big problem coming and it's going to be disruptive (I bloody hate that phrase) but it's going to be a very big deal this and I want to know about it!

By the way if you follow AI news where do you go for it?

Why do you think Hollywood has been on strike for half of last year.

It’s going to be a massive change for the film industry.

I expect the people who've been striking for more stringent AI rights may find themselves completely bypassed.

Within a few years some kid will be able feed their script into an AI hole, spend a few hours or days tweaking it, and have something that looks and sounds like a Hollywood feature film at the end of it.

They may not need to write any of it, just give the tale a nudge here and there.

It'll probably still be 'off' to watch and it'll be part of a torrent of absolute junk, but it's all going to end up somewhere very strange and very different.

It may throw up some true auteurs who otherwise would never have emerged, but they'll have a job on to get noticed.

Will be so strange. You could take an existing film and make it replace the star with you. Or there might be fully AI "actors" that become well known. The world is going to get very weird.

The robotics side is going to lag behind think. But we can use ai to sort that or maybe it will without us knowing uh oh

I asked this question in the other AI thread but surely it’s going to kill off “real” porn as we know not?

Sure, as long as you’re attracted to people with 6 fingers. smile

OpenAI have said this is not being released until the work of the safety team is complete, so this model won’t do porn. But undoubtedly there will eventually be an AI that can be used by the public to generate their own porn.
I don’t think it would be a terrible thing if no real people found themselves working in that industry anymore.

This will happen. Will it actually make our lives any better?

You could retreat into your own self generated bubble of action films, cooking shows and news starring only oneself, but I expect it'll make life considerably worse like most other modern developments.

It's going to kill the onlyfans and porn biz in general. Once you can get "porn models" to do what you want and the video quality is in UHD and realistic, why would you pay $$$s to real people on onlyfans or pornhub?

The only way real porn models/actors can make money is by building on the customer relationship. But then a decent AI could learn to do that.

Porn models are fk... or not, as the case may well be!

Actually, that's really the only way forward. They will have to provide interaction that AI just cannot do.

DALL-E is rubbish so I doubt Sora is any better...
