My charger port is fked so I had to get a wireless charger until I can get it repaired (if I get it repaired). High street one cost £25, vertical holder-style, and is st - charges just over maybe 5% per hour and overnight only managed to get it to 50%. Needed it for travelling emergency though.

£10 flat model from Amazon charges much quicker, hence maybe not forking out the £100 or whatever to get the port replaced.

BUT - the upright one shows a circle animation in the screen when charging begins, whereas the flat one doesn’t, just the usual lightning icon through the battery indicator. Why the difference and what does the circle mean, should that charger be ‘better’ somehow?

Far canal, this cheap one has gone from 20% to 60% in less than an hour, that’s faster than my cable was! Some heat involved though, hope that’s not going to be causing any damage?

You only get the charging screen with phone vertical.

Is the phone in a case? That can slow down wireless charging.

No, no case. iPhone 12 Mini, and the upright holder charger has two charger symbols on it (lightning in a dotted circle), one near the top and one near the bottom, so maybe the phone is too small to activate both of them? Will experiment.

The flat charger is incredibly fast though, possibly even a 0-100% charge in two hours, and the phone and unit get to about 35C so not stupidly warm, no worse then when I have live GPS navigation on.

Apparently the circle animation might mean the charger is MagSafe but I don't really know what that is.
