Can BT remotely block email addresses?
Discussion
A really odd thing has happened. O/H has a BT Internet email address and for years I've been sending her emails from my gmail address.
I sent one on January 4th this year and she received it. I next sent one on January 26th which she didn't receive, nor any of the others I've sent since.
She logs into her email via the BT portal using Firefox and also on her phone.
I looked at account settings and on her laptop, gmail.com was set to ''blocked". Neither of us did it - she wouldn't have a clue how to, nor would she know how to on her phone, and I definitely haven't.
Any ideas how it could have happened? I'm totally baffled.

No one? It must have been the ghost in the machine - anyone know an exorcist?
Seriously, it's baffling how it can have happened and will be interesting to see if anyone with a gmail address contacts O/H to ask whether she received their email sent during the blocked period. Any way, all now seems to be functioning OK.

I don’t know if either of the ways she is accessing email supports it, but a couple of clicks could block a domain.
I’ve always found BT email flaky though.
My late FIL used to use BT email as his only account and it was forever not working. I keep a very old account as the email address is simply my name. I have it set up in Thunderbird (email client) with my other personal accounts. Mostly it works, sometimes it doesn’t, then next day is fine again.
I really wouldn’t trust it.

Is her address @btinternet.com ? If so their filtering has always been a nightmare. When my 'Net was provided by BT emails I sent to btinternet.com addresses were being blocked as the BT mail servers were classed as sources of spam.... Even to this day I get periods where gmail will just not get through, or if I forward a document to more than 2 people it will be blocked.
My personal advice to anyone with a btinternet.com email address in recent times is to get rid of it.

IME it's not that difficult to block it accidentally.I looked at account settings and on her laptop, gmail.com was set to ''blocked". Neither of us did it - she wouldn't have a clue how to, nor would she know how to on her phone, and I definitely haven't.
I have been "looking after" a BT email account for someone and had regularly been adding to the blocked emails to cut down on the spam they were getting.
They then stopped getting gmails from me and after ages trying to work out what had happened I discovered deep in the list of blocked addresses the gmail domain that I had missed. It's not difficult to click block domain rather than the email address by mistake.
In general the BTmail seems to work OK, but for the past 9 months has been horrifically slow opening and refreshing after you delete emails in the inbox or even just send one. Not sure why, so I have linked to a gmail account now and can look at them more easily, albeit the gmail filters sometimes block important stuff that comes through on the BT account directly.
It wasn't my gmail account that was blocked, it was all from gmail.com and she wouldn't have known how to do that. It might have been accidental but it seems, to me at least, a very complicated thing for her to have done unintentionally.
Thanks for all your comments and suggestions though, I shall keep a discreet eye on her laptop and phone handling.

Aha! That could explain it, especially if she did it on her phone so thanks for the link, it's been really bugging me. ETA: A 'confession' has been extracted, she tells me she checks her emails first thing in the morning before she puts in her contact lenses. As I'm always first to get up I've never witnessed this act of folly; her eyesight is shockingly bad without her lenses!
