I have a Windows PC on my desk, I have it one while I'm working to play music, monitor email, whatsapp, control the central heating etc. I want the monitors to remain on all the time, except when the machine is locked.

I can't find this setting anywhere, am I missing something?

Ta.

Keep in mind monitor backlights are a wearing part over time.

Yeah, I am, that's why I want to be able to have them turn off when the machine is locked.

It's not that they're not being used, just my mouse and keyboard are with my work machine so there's nothing keeping the monitors awake while I'm 'using' them. If I set them to not go off, then they don't turn off when locked either.

It's wild that there isn't an easy way to do this!

I don't want to have to install something else, but if I have to.....

What happens with that when the machine is locked? If it carries on going then it'll keep my lock-screen alive.

This PC (Windows 10) is configured with switch off in 30 minutes, but if I lock it, the monitors power save after perhaps 60 seconds. What behaviour do you get if you pick a long period to power save the screens (so a few hours rather than never) and manually lock the PC?

Thanks, that's sorted it I think! I'd have never thought of that!

Interestingly, I just had a look at Power Toys and noticed there's a tool int here called Awake that may well also be a solution.
