In summer I'm taking the family to Disney World. Reading up on the advice for visiting the park it recommends you have a power bank for your phone as you will be using it lots throughout the day for photos, the Disney app, etc.
Having never bought or used one before, which are the go to brands and what do I need to look out for?
Thanks for helping a luddite in this area.

Anker or Belkin. A size you fancy carting around. I usually get pocket sized ones for obvious reasons, but the bigger the better. Usually get the ones that look like a phone, stack both in my pocket.

Something like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-10000mAh-portable-...

Then get an extra short cable.

Or something like this with built in cables:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-BOOSTCHARGE-Integr...

This way, you don’t have to stop to charge, its much easier to just carry on as normal.

I got the Anker version with built in cables, the cable was a bit fragile and I ended up buying a tiddler cable to stick in the free port anyway, so would go with the port only / no built in cable powerbank in the future. When the built in cable was working, it was convenient however.

You might want to get a bigger capacity (10000mah is comfortable for 1, at a stretch 2 phones) or get multiple small powerbanks if you have more than 1 phone to charge. A 20000mah powerbank would be very bulky in the pocket, unless you are prepared to wear combat pants or some sort of tactical vest. Lol.

Anker do a 20,000mah. I've had mine ages and it's brilliant.

Anker is the easy answer.

10,000mAh is usually phone-sized and good for daily use, 20,000 is twice as big but better for trips. Give another to a child so they can keep it charged too.

I believe there is a limit (around 27,000mAh?) for taking on an aeroplane.

Thanks everyone. I have an Anker mini projector for my campervan and am very impressed. I never knew they made power banks as well. Will have a look online and see what's available.

I have a couple of 20,000 anker ones, can’t fault them. I generally have a backpack on so just chuck them in there

I have an Anker 24,000 and a Dell OEM one. They both work fine but the Anker one takes many hours to recharge and doesn't work with every wall socket (no idea why).

Check what the maximum size allowed per passenger for a battery bank is with the airline you're using.
I've seen some airlines have a limit of 10000mAh per passenger if carrying a battery bank.

Disney sell ones that you can swap all around the park for fully charged ones.

I have an Anker power bank. Useful to have a short cable for when the phone and powerbank are together in you pocket charging, plus a longer cable for when the powerbank is in your pocket but you are using the phone in your hand.

And if OP is new to this & hadn’t realised, they are to be carried in hand luggage, as they do not go in the hold.

If you have one you will be frisked and searched at every park entry

If your phone is healthy you won't need one even with a full day at the park

Another vote for Ankar - quality seems pretty good, I’ve got a couple myself and have never had any issues.

Just to ad to this great advice, I'd get 2 10000mah ones over a single larger for your use if it's for charging multiple phones. Also look at what fast charging technology your phone uses and get a power bank that supports the same that way you can have a short plug in over lunch/breaks to keep your phone topped up.

Thought I’d drag this thread up, rather than start a new one smile

I have one of those wky credit card only wallets with a side pouch for a few extra cardssmile

I’m after the smallest, thinnest (but still powerful!) power banks, to keep in my wallet in cases of emergency. Does anyone have any recommendations / experiences of one these tiny gadgets, I’ve seen these on Amazon but I’m not convinced, are they any good? I have an iPhone with MagSafe so I know I could get one of those power banks as well, but the though of having another bulky product in my trousers (oooer!) just annoys me!

I have one of these,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CT2V3XFW?ref=cm_sw_r...

32000mah, it does have a fold out solar panel, I'm unsure if that works, as every time I've used it, it's been overcast and raining! Still nice to have if it does work.

It has all the plugs in the back as well, which is useful, I case any are forgotten, it does have a wireless charging pad, which I tend to use.

Oops, just read the date, and the holiday may have already happened..
