What is the best, most stable way to get my laptop out and about to use the hotspot off my phone?Even if it's a wired connection!!
I currently use several car key programming tools that work off my phone's hotspot for an internet connection when i'm out and about,by wifi.
But a laptop i have just doesn't keep a stable feed off the phone's hotspot for internet??

Using WIFI should be fine on the laptop/Phone. For other's I've looked at previous posts and it's an Android phone and HP Windows 10 Laptop.

I'm wondering if your phone is timing out after a period of inactivity to save power. Some things you could try.

If you're in an area that you're connected to other hotspots select them and forget them so the laptop doesn't try jumping between your phone and another hotspot.

You could use something to keep your connection alive if you opened up a cmd prompt and typed ping -t google.com this would use a small amount of traffic between you and google to keep a connection alive. If you seen anything other than replies then this is your connection dropping. To stop this press CTRL and C or just close the cmd prompt.

I've just cured it!!I won't tell you how many months i've been trying to fix this!!
Tonight i was just about to go out and buy a new laptop and thought to hell with it,i'll piddle about with it for 10 minutes before i go,and there it was,a little hidden setting 'nobody' had told me about,it was under the wifi adapter settings, someone mentioned to enable some 802.11 thingy which i did to no effect in the past.
Then people were constantly on about disabling any power saving modes too which i did, however right under the 802.11 thing i had to enable under the 'configure' tab was 'automatic powersave',i disabled that tonight and Eureka!!!Unbounded joy etc!!
Thanks for the replies!
P.S Anyone want to buy a pixel 6 phone and a Linux laptop?'VERY' little use lol.
