Hotspot from my phone to laptop keeps shutting off

I'm using my android phone as a hotspot and trying to get my hp win 10 laptop to use the hotspot.
All my car key programming tools use the hotspot no problem and the internet connection is stable,however when i try to get my laptop to use the hotspot the connection regularly cuts off,every couple of minutes or so.
I'm 100% sure the windows 10 laptop settings are at fault,i've tried all the tips online regarding disabling battery saving modes etc,i've allowed the main key programming app on my laptop through the firewall,i've tried firewall on and off,network adapter updates all good
Anyone suggest anything i can try?I paid a good few hundred quid for this app and i just can't get the use of it!Thanks.
