I was just looking at Facebook on my phone. In the feed was an article on a cat page about a cat showing up unexpectedly in a TV studio. I thought it would be amusing so I clicked through to have a look. In the article was what appeared to be a video, which I assumed was the footage of the cat, so I clicked the arrow to start the video. At that point an apple pay window appeared containing my card details and, somewhat bizarrely, an email address which I haven't had for 15 years! When I clicked the cross in the top right of the screen to close this window it said "Processing Payment" and made some reference to a subscription! I checked my banking app and £0.01 was showing as a pending transaction. I've phoned my bank and had them blocked from taking any more money but... how on earth did they get my Apple Pay to load, along with an email address which I stopped using before I got my first iPhone, and then take a payment when I clicked the button to close the window, as opposed to touching the finger ID button?

Pics:

Before pressing the close button on the window I took a screen shot as I feared something odd was about to happen...

This is what's showing up on my Apple Pay...

And this is what's showing as a pending transaciton on my online banking...

You need to report that to apple pay and make sure you cancel any future payments.
I just searched "moxi charges" and one result is the one below, this redirects to a video with an apple pay link
Seems like a 1p "trial" then 29.99/month

Be aware that Apple will likely just tell you to contact your bank amd cancel your card.

That's what happemed to me when my iTunes account was used for fraudulent transactions, even though it was only my iTunes account that was hacked and my bank card details were still secure.

The attempt fpr £29.90 happened about one hour ago but was declined, so clearly my bank have done their bit. Curiously, it's also showing that the initial £0.01 has been refunded, so maybe the email I sent to them informing them that they've been reported to my bank, and to Action Fraud, and demanding my penny back, has had some effect!

Yes, 100%.

I think, partly, the issue was that I was looking on my phone. There's just too much clutter on these pages so you think you've clicked on an embedded video relating to the content but it's actually a link mimicking the appearance of an embedded video!

The thing confusing me now is, how on earth was my old @btinternet.com email address (obscured) showing under "Contact" in my first screen shot? I stopped using this early in 2009 before I got my first iPhone in late 2009. It could only have been associated with my iTunes account until early 2009, but hasn't been since!

Could that email address be the one you first signed up to Facebook with?

I noticed that it was using a very old Plusnet account when I last checked, didn't seem to be a problem.

Possibly, but it hasn't been associated with my FB account since 2009 as I set up a gmail address when I sacked off BT Internet early that year.
