Hi all

Recently built a gaming pc to play online with my friends as a social thing. We play CS, world of tanks, that sort of thing.

I decided to reminisce with a bit of GTA V before the new one comes out so bought and downloaded yesterday.

Grabbed an Xbox controller from upstairs this evening then pulled my hair out for 90 minutes before flouncing out the room to bed! I’ve tried:

Multiple usb c cables
Several ports front and back
Device manager > update driver for everything usb
The Xbox accessories app (doesn’t see the device)
Plugged the controller into the Xbox and updated firmware

The light goes solid (since the firmware) but the Xbox peripherals is NOT in device manager. The pc doesn’t have Bluetooth and I don’t have the Xbox wireless adapter. I’m happy with usb c for now anyway.

Steam says no controller connected and I can’t make it work in GTA, it just defaults to keyboard/ mouse.

HELP!!!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I tried both pads from the little un's xbox, both working fine. I even updated the firmware on them both before trying on the PC.

i did figure this out in the end last night. I tried 4 different cables and ALL the USB ports. Cables all used around the house for charging devices.

As a last shot before nuking it all from orbit, I had a USB-C to C cable and a C to A converter. Tried that and it worked. Weird but there ya go. Sorted

For anyoine who finds this in the future, I subsequently discovered that steam has an "xbox helper" feature which totally screws with button mapping, so don't have the steam service running in the background whilst playing
