Probs not the best place but I cant find my details for usual gaming forums.

My 5600x/MB combo is dead due to a BIOS update that failed. SCAN is happy to try RMA but I have to send the whole system back (its just about out of warranty) and its around £70 for sending it back.

The risk of course is they refuse warranty and its £70 down drain and I still need to buy something new.

So....the other option is a 58003dx/Mobo combo and fit myself or push the £150 odd extra out and go up to a 78003dx/Mobo + DDR5 RAM since DDR4 wont work.

I VR a fair bit and play sims - so looking for some input as to whether its worth going 7850 or just sticking with a smaller CPU upgrade (assuming I can get mobo fixed of course).

Most modern motherboards have a bios recovery option. Have you checked the user manual for yours?

The Asus boards for example, have a button on the rear, and sometimes on the board itself) to initiate a recovery bios.

Unfortunately yes. Its an MSI board so has the easy flash option. Tried loads of flash drives, disconnecting memory, CMOS clear etc and nada - just flashes a bit then powers the PC on with no further progress (other than red CPU error light).
